چکیده
Kerman region is one of the important mining regions in the world due to its huge and rich mineral resources. Bam County located in the southeast of Kerman had long ago become a center for connecting the southeast of Iran with Sistan and Afghanistan, due to its special geological and geomorphological conditions. Bam County has had great commercial and military importance since the Sassanid period. article, based on the results of a field survey in the central part of Bam County, evidence of metal smelting centers, furnaces, and old mining has been introduced. The main questions of this research are the chronology of mining evidence in the central part of Bam County, the types of metals extracted, and how the cycle of metal mining and metallurgy in this region. The findings have been collected by field and documentary methods, and the research has been done in a descriptive-analytical way. Eight sites with smelting and slag evidence, one ancient mine, and two active mines were identified and studied, where metals and elements such as tin, zinc, lead, silver, iron, and, to a lesser extent, gold, have been exploited and processed in them. The large volume of processing and smelting of zinc and zinc oxide in seven sites is significant. Although indicative cultural materials were not found in the studied sites for chronology, historical sources indicate that at least from the third century AH, the extraction and metallurgy of these metals took place in this region and continued until the Qajar period.
