Study of climatic changes impact in formation process of Paleolithic site of Khaneh-sar1. Southeast of the Caspian Sea
Khaneh sar 1 is a geological facies consisting of Pleistocene deposits in southeast of Caspian Sea, located 700 meters east of Komishan Cave .A high percentage of site deposit made of chert stones artifact and a small percentage belong to the fine-grained dark chocolate soil that in terms of density, type and color, can be compared with Paleosol among the loess layers in the area. Another geological deposit that can be used to compare is Early Khvalynian Chocolate clay. Based on Systematic random sampling method, 4992 artifacts were obtained from this site. Because of the fundamental difference between khanesar1, Aurignacian of Garmrod2 and Zagros industries, the lithic collection studied at this research has been considered as a local industries of intermediate middle-Upper Paleolithic of Iran.. As a result, considering to techno-typological characteristics, Geological context and late Pleistocene Climatic phenomena, Khanesar1 formation can be occurred at the Initial Upper Paleolithic which coincides with MIS3, Khvalynian transgressions and CB horizon of Neka Loess. the formation of the Khaneh-sar1 back to the intermediate Middle-upper Paleolithic coinciding with MIS3.
