Indeed, religious beliefs play the main role in this diversity. Because of the empire’s long endurance and vast extent as well as its exceptional cultural diversity, various burial customs prevailed during the Parthian period. Large number of cemeteries with a plethora of different burial practices has been excavated at different Parthian sites lying both within and outside modern Iran, including jar burial, cellar burial, mausoleum, coffin burial, well burial, parallelepiped graves, simple pits and cairns.<br />Unlike the most area in the Iranian central plateau, the vast plain around Tehran have no been the focus of any serious archaeological surveys or excavations thus the historical setting, archaeology and burial patterns of the region during the Parthian period remained totally unknown. However, a number of burials have recently been discovered and excavated during two seasons of excavations at Veliran. Their preliminary study has revealed important information on burial practices and religious attitude of the residents of Damavand area during the Parthian period. The results of this study are described in the present paper. دوره اشکانی به دلیل دوران طولانی امپراطوری ،گستردگی وسعت زیاد قلمرو حکومتی و وجود مذاهب مختلف ،  شیوه‌های متنوعی جهت دفن اجساد وجود داشته است. تاکنون گورستانهای متعدی از این دوره با شیوه‌های متفاوت تدفین از قبیل :قبور خمره‌ای ، سردابه‌ای ، گور معبد ، تابوتی ، چاهی ، مکعب مستطیل ، گودالهای ساده و سنگ چین در نقاط مختلف داخل و خارج ایران کشف و حفاری شده است. در بخش شمال شرق فلات مرکزی ایران و بخصوص در استان تهران به دلیل عدم انجام بررسی‌های علمی و کاوشهای باستان شناسی ، هیچ گونه اطلاعی از وضعیت تاریخی و باستان شناسی این بخش از فلات مرکزی ایران وبخصوص شیوه‌های تدفین در دوره اشکانی وجود نداشت.با انجام دو فصل کاوش در محوطه ولیران در شرق استان تهران گورستانی با تعدادی گور و شیوه های مختلف تدفین کشف و شناسایی گردید که با مطالعه اولیه آنها ،اطلاعات مفید و ارزشمندی در خصوص شیوه‌های تدفین و نگرش مذهبی اشکانیان در منطقه دماوند حاصل آمد که در این مقاله به شرح آنها خواهیم پرداخت. https://jarcs.ut.ac.ir/article_32122_b59b62c7d5982941310643e0d7f9c306.pdf
