Technical executive details in each kind of these decorations depending on composition and method of treatment, manner of forming, and measure of relieve are different. Unlike two common categorizations which are based on method of forming and/ or measure of relieve, this kind of new categorization has founded on technical details and executive methods. Therefore it can be more suitable for conservation and restoration goals, technological and archeological aims, as well as in scientific research for understanding and presentation of traditional methods and technology used to create these works of art. The results of these studies have lead us to a technical classification of stucco decorations that contains: high relief, semi relief, mould stucco, Koshtehbori, Cupbori, combined with tile or glass, Tongbori, lattice, and coiled paste on the flat mirror, combined with Simgel, and mosaic stucco decorations. براساس مطالعات میدانی و بررسی‌های مقدّماتی آزمایشگاهی بر روی آثار تزئینی گچی در ایران دوران اسلامی، مشخص گردید که کمینه 12 گونة مختلف از تزئینات، گچی وجود دارند که در هرگونه، جزئیات فنی به‌کار گرفته شده در اجرا، بسته به مواد متشکله و روش عمل‌آوری، شیوة شکل‌دهی، و میزان برجستگی تزئینات متفاوت است. برخلاف دو نوع طبقه‌بندی رایج پیشین که بر اساس شیوة شکل‌دهی و میزان برجستگی انجام می‌گرفت، این نوع طبقه‌بندی، چون براساس جزئیات فنی و روش اجرایی تزئینات ارایه می‌گردد، همخوانی بیشتری با اهداف فن‌شناسی آثار داشته و در حوزة باستان‌شناسی و نیز حفاظت و مرمّت، کارایی مؤثّرتری خواهد داشت. براساس جزئیات فنی، تزئینات گچی در آرایش معماری دوران اسلامی ایران به گونه‌هایِ تزئینات گچی با برجستگی زیاد، نیم‌برجسته، قالبی، کُشته‌بُری، کُپ‌بُری، تلفیق با مصالحی چون شیشه یا کاشی، تزئینات گچی مجوّف شامل دو نوع تُنگ‌بُری و مشبک، فتیله‌ای، گچ‌بری روی آیینة تخت، گچ‌بری روی سیم گِل، و معرق‌های گچی، قابل تقسیم است. https://jarcs.ut.ac.ir/article_28697_fe00ba682154613f29d869bb3dea9158.pdf
